Weekly Words Your child will review 5 words each week. We call these words "no excuse" words and they are meant to be words that they use in their writing a lot, not unknown vocabulary words. They are required each week to complete a "no excuse" word booklet in class. This booklet has them do different activities with the 5 words, but please also study these words at home.
The following week, they will have 5 new words to study and every other Friday, they will have a spelling test in class on the 10 words. I might not test on all the words but I wanted you to know that they are tested as "spelling in written work." This means that I will tell them a sentence and they are to write that sentence, spelling the no excuse words correctly, and include a capital and period. (If they misspell other words in the sentence it will not count against them). Having a capital and period will count as part of their grade.
At the start of each week, your child will write their 5 new words in their planner. This is just a reminder to touch on the weekly words at home. There is NO addition assignment they need to do.
If your child would like to practice at home, spelling city is a great resource.
